About halfway through Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning directorial debut Get Out, protagonist Chris Washington (played by Black Panther’s underused Daniel Kaluuya) is pretty sure he’s in serious trouble. As a black man making his first trip to visit his girlfriend Rose’s rich, liberal, white parents, he’s determined not to provoke any sort of confrontation that might make him look defensive or volatile.
